Final Post
Through out this semester I have been looking at texts written about war and peace and found connections between the texts and today’s news. The connection that I was focused on making was between the texts and how military families today relate to wars of the past. There are a great deal of things that can be said about wars of the past and the similarities and differences with the conflicts that our nation is in today. The families of the men and women serving today suffer at every holiday and every news broadcast while our society shuffles by without noticing.
The one thing that I hope the people will understand after reading my blog is that many families are in need of support while their loved one is overseas fighting for our safety. Regardless of political views and views about the war in the Middle East the troops are doing our nation a service that requires great sacrifices so that we can continue to be free. I want nothing more than for the citizens of the United States to remember their troops and be thankful for their service and their sacrifice.
I am thankful to have had this experience. I really believe that we all have the ability to make a difference in the lives of our service families. Just remember that they can use a helping hand just like the rest of us. If everyone says something that is encouraging or offers to babysit for an hour or two while a weary parent gets away for a moment, these families will feel as though the sacrifice that is made is worth it. As it is right now, it seems that these families go unrecognized for their sacrifice which would make it very difficult to continue doing what they have been for these last few years.

I have really enjoyed reading and discussing the different texts that were assigned for this class. I have also enjoyed reading and commenting on the different blogs from fellow classmates. Your blog in particular, was one that was always interesting to read.
My topic for my blog was also military families. I don’t know about you, but at times it was a challenge to connect the topic of military families to some of the books we were assigned to read. But, like you, I am glad we had this experiance. Now that all of our blogs are out there for the world to read, maybe others will learn something they didn’t know before. Or maybe they will see the various topics we have all blogged about and think about them from a different point of view than before.

I also wrote on military families, and I must agree that it was an interesting topic to research and track over the years. Military families have the difficult task of carrying on without news of their loved one overseas and not having direct contact with their relatives. I appreciated the experience as well because it allowed me to attempt to connect with the war. Your posts were always interesting to read as we had the same topic, but chose to delve into different issues. I don’t know about you, but I plan on continuing to follow the news about the military and families of soldiers still even though our class is coming to a close.
